DUNKIRK (2017) Movie Trailer 3: Civilians Comes to Rescue of Allied Soldiers During WW II

Allied Soldiers Dunkirk

Dunkirk Trailer 3

Warner Bros. has released the third movie trailer for Dunkirk (2017). The first promo was simply a tease and the next trailer didn’t give the viewer much. This Dunkirk trailer is a smorgasbord of tense scene after tense scene (just when they think that Allied soldiers are safe, another catastrophe strikes). As the violence and the death count escalates, so does the heroism of civilians that put their lives and lives of their loved ones in danger to rescue soldiers whom they’d never met. That is a type of heroism that can’t be trained into a person. It is either there or it is not there.

I have not studied this moment during World War II i.e. Operation Dynamo so I had no idea that civilians played such a critical role in the evacuation of that French beach.

While watching this trailer, there were many times when I thought that I was watching Saving Private Ryan, one of the most impressive war films every created. There were other times when I thought, this is a Christopher Nolan film. The camera angles that he choose, the cinematography at play had all of the hallmarks of his work – if you have seen all of his films.

Dunkirk’s plot synopsis: “Miraculous evacuation of Allied soldiers from Belgium, Britain and France, who were cut off and surrounded by the German army from the beaches and harbor of Dunkirk, France, between May 27- June 04, 1940, during Battle of France in World War II.”

Dunkirk also stars Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, James D’Arcy, Aneurin Barnard, Jack Lowden, Bobby Lockwood, Barry Keoghan, Miranda Nolan, Adam Long, Bradley Hall, and Harry Styles.
