Everybody Wants Some Movie Trailer. Richard Linklater‘s Everybody Wants Some (2016) movie trailer stars Zoey Deutch, Glen Powell and Tyler Hoechlin. Everybody Wants Some‘s plot synopsis: “A group of college baseball players navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood.”
Dazed and Confused (1993) is a masterpiece. I honestly believed it was a film from the 1970s when I first saw it, and I used to watch it annually before summer, every year in high-school. It’s a full world of teenagers, mischief, the cool older guys, being the younger kid who’s taken in by them, the stoners, the asshole jocks, etc. It’s alive, you know these characters, and you love hanging out with them. It’s a classic.
This trailer gives me absolutely no hope for the film. Sure, Linklater is an incredible director, and I’m sure he has some satisfying arcs and character development secured in that script, but there are some issues here. First of all, the aesthetic is disgusting. It looks like a CW show, and I really do not understand that decision. Is this meant to suit the 1980s perfectly? That’s all I can come up with. It’s supposed to look saturated and colorful and…like a sitcom, surely not.
Also, these actors don’t inspire much hope. One of them is clearly a Linklater stand-in. And hey, there’s another black guy in a cowboy hat! “It rhymes”, as George Lucas would say.
I don’t know. What do you think? This could just be a shitty, uninspiring trailer. Maybe this is another masterpiece…
