EVIL DEAD 2: Fede Alvarez, Rodo Sayagues not Directing, Writing Sequel

Fede Alvarez Evil Dead

Fede Alvarez is not directing Evil Dead 2. Not only is Fede Alvarez not directing the sequel to Evil Dead (2013), that film’s co-writer, Rodo Sayagues, is not writing it either. Neither will have any involvement with a follow-up film to the horror movie. The Rodo Sayagues recently spoke with another news outlet about the possibility and gave a definitively response to the persistent sequel rumors:

Look, I am sorry to tell you this but that movie won’t happen. Evil Dead 2 is not going to happen, at least not with us involved. We left that project many months ago because we preferred to put our energies on other things. I don’t know if the producers still have intentions of making it. But what I can tell you is that we are not part of that project.

Maybe Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell will take the reigns and combine the past and the present with Army of Darkness 2. Time will tell.

Evil Dead starred Jessica LucasShiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore, and Jane Levy.

Evil Dead‘s plot synopsis: based on Sam Raimi‘s 1981 original film, “Mia, a young woman struggling with sobriety, heads to a remote cabin with her brother and a group of friends, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads to danger and horror…[they] unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the [friends] in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”
