FAHRENHEIT 11/9: Michael Moore is Making a Donald Trump Documentary

Michael Moore The Washington Post Trump Takes Power

Michael Moore is Making a Donald Trump Documentary Entitled Fahrenheit 11/9

This was a move that anyone watching the political scene for the last year could and should have expected. Director Micheal Moore has been open about his distrust and dislike of 2016 Presidential candidate Donald Trump, going so far a creating Michael Moore in TrumpLand. When Donald Trump was elected the forty-fifth President of the United States, Moore appeared on numerous political news broadcasts deriding Trump’s policies, tweets, and contradictions.

On The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell months ago, Lawrence O’Donnell asked Moore why he wasn’t making a movie about the election or Donald Trump and Moore responded “who says I’m not making a movie?” (paraphrase).

Now we know the details of that secret film. It is a documentary and it is about Donald Trump. The film will be entitled Fahrenheit 11/9, referring to the day (November 6, 2016) Donald Trump was made President of the United States of America. Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein have already obtained the rights to the film for every territory in the world.

“There is no greater part of what we can do right now than to have the power to bring Michael Moore to a mass audience,” say the Weinsteins in a joint statement. “When we had the opportunity to work with him on Fahrenheit 9/11, we were so persistent that we ultimately had to part ways from Disney and we lost our beloved Miramax, named after our parents, because we believed so strongly in the message. The movie broke all records then, and we plan to do so again.”

Michal Moore assembled the same team he used to create Fahrenheit 9/11 (which grossed over $200 Million worldwide) for Fahrenheit 11/9. Those directors and executive producers are Tia Lessin, Carl Deal, and Meghan O’Hara.

Like with Fahrenheit 9/11, Moore has an agenda with Fahrenheit 11/9:

“No matter what you throw at him, it hasn’t worked,” says Moore. “No matter what is revealed, he remains standing. Facts, reality, brains cannot defeat him. Even when he commits a self-inflicted wound, he gets up the next morning and keeps going and tweeting… That all ends with this movie.”

Moore and the Weinsteins apparently are going to use a varied array of distribution channels to get their film in front of audiences. The Weintsteins said this in their statement:

This movie will have one of the most innovative distribution plans ever.

From the careful usage of words in that statement, I am guessing there will be an V.O.D. component to how the film is distributed.

The Weinsteins went on to hint about the content of Fahrenheit 11/9:

This new Donald Trump documentary aims to be every bit as explosive [as Fahrenheit 9/11] and will present a storyline unlike any that is currently being told.

With the current revelations about former F.B.I. director James B. Comey’s memos (Memcons – Memorandum of a Conversation) on his meetings with President Trump and President Trump possibly leaking intelligence to Russian diplomats, that is a bold statement. I, and other fans of Fahrenheit 9/11, are looking forward to seeing what Moore has and the story that he tells about it on-screen.

There is no word yet when Fahrenheit 11/9 will be released in theaters.
