Confiding that all of her Fantastic Four co-stars “felt the same way” about continuing the series, Mara noted that the future of the franchise is uncertain at the moment, but said that she’s still holding out for a sequel. This makes her the second cast member to voice support for a new Fantastic Four film, with Mr. Fantastic actor Miles Teller previously sharing that he would love a chance to reprise his role as well.
Of course, Mara and Teller are far from the only ones trying to bring the beloved superhero team back to the big screen:
Even still, “Fantastic Four” producer and co-writer Simon Kinberg still believes there’s potential for the sequel with Mara and the rest of the cast. “We want to make another Fantastic Four movie. We love that cast — I mean if I were to say to you now Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller, and Kate [Mara] and Jamie [Bell] are great actors — we love that cast,” Kinberg said in May. “I love the comic, I mean I love it almost as much as X-Men.” Earlier this month Miles Teller expressed similar sentiments about returning for another go as Reed Richards should a sequel move forward.
With the original “Fantastic Four” having an estimated production budget of $120 million and only making an estimated $168 million worldwide, it remains unlikely fans of Marvel’s first family will be seeing a sequel any time soon.
