FANTASTIC FOUR (2015): Simon Kinberg Confirms Reed Richards Will Stretch

Simon Kinberg Clarifies that Mr. Fantastic Will Stretch Fantastic Four. For those of you who doubted that Reed Richards will have the same powers from the comics, well rest assured he will still be stretching to impossible lengths, according to writer Simon Kinberg.

Talking to HitFlix, the Fantastic Four screenwriter set the record straight that star Miles Teller’s Reed Richards will keep his powers in the movie.

I think it was confusing.  I was a little confused by it myself. The intent was to try to explain the power with some sort of scientific explanation, but as you pointed out, most of his powers defy what we know about physics. The upshot of it is that he stretches in his movie. That is his power. That’s the simplest explanation.

Despite all the secrecy surrounding the movie, Kinberg stated that the studio is just trying to make things perfect in a visual sense before the film comes out.

This thing here, it really has been a concerted thing because we really just don’t want to show anything until it’s ready, until it looks great, and they show the real intention of the shot or the movie, then we’ll show it. That’s why we’ve held on to so much. We held on to the Thing. We held on to Doom. We held on until we were further along.

Directed by Josh Trank, Fantastic Four also stars Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, and Toby Kebbell. The film is scheduled for release on August 7th, 2015.
