FAST 8 (2017): Scott Eastwood To Play Antagonist

Scott Eastwood joins the cast of Fast 8. The Gran Torino actor will play a new character who poses a threat to the heroes of the upcoming Fast and Furious film.

Cast as a close associate of a federal agent played by Kurt Russell, Eastwood joins Academy Award-winner and fellow series newcomer Charlize Theron as one of the villains of Fast 8. The two are expected to try and stymie the activities of series leads Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson and Michelle Rodriguez. Information about the story and plot is lacking, but the movie’s shooting schedule reportedly suggests that Cuba will be one of the locations in the film.

Fast 8 will be one of Eastwood’s highest profile projects so far. The son of veteran actor and director Clint Eastwood, the younger Eastwood has appeared in several of his father’s dramas such as The Great Raid and Invictus. Today, Eastwood is widening his horizons to include such blockbusters as the new Fast and Furious installment and Warner BrosSuicide Squad:

The latest installment begins production this summer with a planned April 14, 2017, release. Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson and Michelle Rodriguez will reprise their roles, with F. Gary Gray taking over the directing reins. Neil Moritz and Diesel will produce.

Eastwood is playing the protege of Kurt Russell’s federal agent, who will be reprising his role in the latest installment as well.. Plot details are under wraps, although sources have told Variety that Cuba will be one of the destinations the production will visit during its shoot.
