The Fate of the Furious International Trailer

The international movie trailer for The Fate of the Furious (2017) has been released. It is almost entirely made up of new footage from The Fast and the Furious 8. I have not seen the last few Fast & Furious films but seeing Dom (Vin Diesel) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) getting married is the natural progression of their relationship from the very first film in the series. This series has lasted longer than anyone thought it would, each film making more money than the previous film. For me, the best film in the series was the fourth film. That is not because of its action sequences. It is because of its story-line and how its evolved.

Most of the other films didn’t have that. In its place were stacked more and more outrageous action sequences. These action sequences increasing defied logic, physics, and reason.

The latest installment of The Fast and the Furious franchise reminds me of the lousy James Bond film Die Another Day.

The singular positive of The Fate of the Furious seems to be that Dom goes rogue, fighting against his old team. He knows all of their strengths and weakness. He can use that against them.

The Fate of the Furious‘ plot synopsis: “Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.

From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world’s stage…and to bring home the man who made them a family.”

F. Gary Gray‘s The Fate of the Furious also stars Helen Mirren, Jordana Brewster, Kurt Russell, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky, Kristofer Hivju, Tyrese Gibson, Charlize Theron, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Scott Eastwood, Lucas Black, and Theresa Cook.
