Film-Book Announcements: New RSS Feeds

Layla Kayleigh, The Feed, Pink

Film-Book dot Com has recently added to the available RSS Feeds the site offers. We already offered RSS Feeds for Film-Book.com Posts and Film-Book.com Comments. We have now added RSS Feeds for the Contests, Movie Reviews, Movie Trailers, Short Films, TV Show News, and TV Show Reviews categories of Film-Book.com. Many have already noticed the additional RSS Feed icons at the bottom of the site and have taken advantage of them.

The reason behind the separate RSS Feeds is simple: Some people want daily updates on specific subjects e.g. a person who only wants to watch the latest movie trailers would subscribe to the Movie Trailers Feed. A person solely interested in Short Films would subscribe to the Short Films Feed.

The separate RSS Feeds mean you no longer have to get everything this site offers, which is still available via “Posts” at the top of the site and “All Film-Book.com” at the bottom, but only what you are truly interested in (separately and independently).

For those who do not know what an RSS Feed is:

RSS (originally RDF Site Summary, often dubbed Really Simple Syndication) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a “feed”, “web feed”, or “channel”) includes full or summarized text, plus metadata such as publishing dates and authorship.

RSS feeds benefit publishers by letting them syndicate content automatically. A standardized XML file format allows the information to be published once and viewed by many different programs. They benefit readers who want to subscribe to timely updates from favored websites or to aggregate feeds from many sites into one place.

So what do you think, good idea, bad idea? We have not offered RSS Feeds for all the categories of this site, just the ones we deemed fitting of a RSS Feed at this point and time. If there is a RSS Feed you do not see represented but would like an RSS Feed for, please let us know in the comments sections below and we will see what we can do.
