American Sniper, Get Hard, Vacation Friends, Redeemer, and other movies have all made recent film casting news. These films come from movie studios Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, Paramount Animation, and XYZ Films.
American Sniper (Warner Bros.)
Sam Jaeger has joined the cast of Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper. The film stars Bradley Cooper as decorated marksman Chris Kyle, whose memoir American Sniper: The Autobiography Of The Most Lethal Sniper In U.S. Military History serves as the basis for the Warner Bros film. Village Roadshow is co-producing and co-financing. Jaeger will play Captain Martens, who welcomes Chris back to Iraq for his second tour of duty and is his commanding officer on his subsequent tour.
Get Hard (Warner Bros.)
Tip “T.I.” Harris has landed a role opposite Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart in Warner Bros’ Etan Cohen-directed comedy Get Hard. In the Gary Sanchez-produced pic, [Tip “T.I.” Harris] will play Joaquin, Hart’s streetwise cousin who helps Hart prep Ferrell’s millionaire fraudster for prison.
Vacation Friends (20th Century Fox)
In a near seven-figure deal, Fox has acquired the spec script Vacation Friends by the sibling scribe team Tom Mullen & Tim Mullen. The plan is for Steve Pink to direct, and for Chris Pratt and Anna Faris to star…Pratt and Faris…will play a crazy wild couple that bonds with a straight laced couple on vacation in Mexico. They have a great time, and then want to rekindle the fun. Once the other couple gets back to their normal life, it’s not nearly the same kind of fun and their vacation friends won’t go away. It’s like What About Bob? with a couple.
Monster Trucks (Paramount Animation)
[Holt McCallany] has booked a baddie gig in the hybrid live-action/CGI pic based on the Hasbro toy line. Holt McCallany is joining Lucas Till, Amy Ryan and Jane Levy in Paramount Animation’s Monster Trucks for director Chris Wedge (Epic, Ice Age). He’ll play Burke, an intense and dangerous security contractor who Paramount-Pictures-Logowill stop at nothing to get his job done — even it means roughing up teenagers.
Redeemer (XYZ Films)
XYZ Films‘ action pic Redeemer just got…actor Noah Segan (Looper, Brick), who’ll co-star opposite martial artist Marko Zaror…in the pic now filming in Chile…Zaror stars as an ex-hitman who’s made a deal with God to hunt down the men he used to work for. Segan’s come aboard to play an unhinged American expat businessman-cum-kingpin with a thing for Chilean culture who zeroes in on Zaror when his money goes missing. The casting is unusual in that he’ll play his character in English within the otherwise Spanish-language pic.
Our Kind Of Traitor
Damian Lewis and Jeremy Northam have joined the previously announced Ewan McGregor, Stellan Skarsgard and Naomie Harris in the cast…the adaptation of John Le Carré’s novel that’s directed by Susanna White.
