Avatar Sequels, World War Z 2, My Dinner With Hervé, and other films have made recent film casting, screenwriting, and director news. These films come from movie studios primarily based in the United States. The castings, screenwriters, and directors are subject to change.
Oona Chaplin has been cast as Varang, a “strong and vibrant central character who spans the entire saga of the sequels.”
She joins Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Joel David Moore, and Cliff Curtis in the James Cameron-directed films.
Avatar 2 will be released on December 18, 2020. Avatar 3 will be released on December 17, 2021. Avatar 4 will be released on December 20, 2024. Avatar 5 will be released on December 19, 2025.
Wonder Woman 2
DC Films co-chairmen Geoff Johns and director Patty Jenkins are currently writing the treatment for Wonder Woman 2. Jenkins has said that wants to send Diana, princess of Diana, Princess of Themyscira (Gal Gadot) to America, further along in timeline between now and 2017 in the sequel film.
Director D.J. Caruso confirmed that work is underway for a fourth xXx film. Returning for the film franchise film will be Vin Diesel, Ruby Rose, Nina Dobrev, and Deepika Padukone.
Josh Trank‘s has been selected to direct the Tom Hardy-starring biographical drama film about Al Capone.
Neve Campbell has been cast in an unspecified role.
Campbell joins Dwayne Johnson, who has the lead role in the Rawson Marshall Thurber-directed film.
Skyscraper‘s plot synopsis: “Johnson stars as a former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and war veteran who now assesses security for skyscrapers. On assignment in China he finds the tallest, safest building in the world suddenly ablaze, and he’s been framed for it. A wanted man on the run, he must find those responsible, clear his name and somehow rescue his family who are trapped inside the building above the fire line.”
World War Z 2
Director David Fincher and actor Brad Pitt are unofficially attached to the sequel film. Their deals have not been finalized yet.
Tommy Lee Jones is closing on a deal to play an as-of-yet unspecified role in the film. James Gray is directing from a script that he co-wrote with Ethan Gross.
Jones would be joining Brad Pitt in the film.
Ad Astra’s potential plot: “In Ad Astra (which means “to the stars” in Latin), Pitt would play the slightly autistic space engineer Roy McBride. Twenty years after his father left on a one-way mission to Neptune in order to find signs of extra-terrestrial intelligence, McBride travels through the solar system to find him and understand why his mission failed.”
My Dinner With Hervé
Mireille Enos has been cast as Kathy Self, Hervé Villechaize longtime girlfriend.
Oona Chaplin has been cast as Katie, the girlfriend of journalist Danny Tate.
Harriet Walter has been cast as Baskin, the newspaper editor of Tate.
All three are joining Peter Dinklage and Jamie Dornan in the Sacha Gervasi-directed and written film.
My Dinner With Hervé‘s plot synopsis: “My Dinner With Hervé centers on an unlikely friendship that evolves over one wild night in L.A. between struggling journalist Danny Tate (Dornan) and actor Hervé Villechaize (Dinklage), the world’s most famous gun-toting dwarf, resulting in life-changing consequences for both.”
Mary Queen of Scots
Maria Dragus has been casts as Mary Fleming, a Scottish noblewoman and childhood companion of Mary Stuart.
She joins Saoirse Ronan, Margot Robbie, Joe Alwyn, Martin Compston, and Jack Lowden in the Josie Rourke-directed film.
Beau Willimon wrote the script, based upon the book by John Guy.
The Iron Orchard
Ned Van Zandt has been cast in a unspecified role in the film.
He joins Lane Garrison, Austin Nichols, and Ali Cobrin in the Ty Roberts-directed film. Gerry de Leo wrote the script based upon the novel by Tom Pendleton.
The Iron Orchard‘s plot synopsis: “the story follows Jim McNeely, a young man thrust into the vibrant and brutal West Texas oilfields circa 1939 who works his way through the ranks to become a formidable wildcatter.”
