Deepwater Horizon

Mark Wahlberg is preparing to play another all-American hero. He’s entered talks for Deepwater Horizon, J.C. Chandor‘s drama about the 2010 BP oil rig explosion.

Built in 2001 off the coast of Louisiana, the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded on April 20, 2010. The incident caused a leak which flowed for another 87 days, becoming the largest offshore oil spill in U.S. history. Of the 126 crew members on board at the time of the explosion, 11 were killed and another 17 were injured.

Wahlberg is looking to play the second-in-command on the oil rig.

Dead Rising

Zach Lipovsky will be directing a Dead Rising movie based on the popular Capcom survival horror video game series.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Harry Potter series director David Yates will return to JK Rowling’s magical world, helming the Harry Potter spin-off movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The Destroyer

Shane Black [has been]…tapped to direct The Destroyer for the [Sony Pictures], based on the long-running novel series (150 books!) centered around badass character and “human superweapon” Remo Williams.

The script for The Destroyer is by Jim Uhls (Fight Club), based on the characters co-created by Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir.

Untitled Celebrity Death Pool

Ken Jeong has signed on to star in a comedy currently known as Untitled Celebrity Death Pool…Jeong will play a struggling nightclub owner in debt to a loan shark who sets out to win his long-running celebrity death pool by offing his chosen celebrity: David Hasselhoff.

The Hoff himself is aboard to co-star…Hulk Hogan also has signed on for a role. Diary Of A Mad Black Woman helmer Darren Grant is directing from a spec script by Peter Hoare.

Queen of Earth

Michelle Dockery will joinstar Elisabeth Moss in the film, which is being directed by Alex Ross Perry (Listen Up Philip).

Perry wrote and will direct the psychological thriller, which centers on two women (Moss and Dockery) who retreat to a beach house to get a break from the pressures of the outside world. Although they grew up as best friends, they soon realize how disconnected from each other they have become, allowing their suspicions to bleed into reality.
