Emily Blunt

Detour, The Smurfs, The Huntsman, and other movies have made recent film casting, screenwriting, and director news. These films come from movie studios primarily based in the United States. The castings, screenwriters, and directors are subject to change.

The Huntsman

Frank Darabont and Universal have parted company, and he will no longer be the director of The Huntsman, the second installment of Snow White And The Huntsman.

Emily Blunt…is in negotiations to play the villain in The Huntsman, the spin-off of Snow White and The Huntsman

The plot for this film follows Eric (Hemsworth), the huntsman who protected Snow White in the first film, as he’s sent on a quest to find the stolen magic mirror. Though Charlize Theron’s evil queen died in the first film, the actress will return to reprise her role this time, and if Blunt’s deal goes through, she’ll play Theron’s sister, the evil Snow Queen.

Snowman

Screenwriter Brenda Herrold has landed the sought-after gig of adapting MGM’s story of Snowman, the Long Island, NY, plow horse who escaped the slaughterhouse to become a champion show jumper in the 1950s.

Detour

Tye Sheridan…will star in psychological thriller Detour, written and to be directed by Christopher Smith (Get Santa).

The new film will center on Harper (Sheridan), a young law student who, while grieving for his dying mother, struggles to decide whether he should kill his unfaithful step-father.

The Smurfs

Mandy Patinkin is in final negotiations to voice Papa Smurf in Sony Pictures Animations’ reboot of The Smurfs.

Kelly Asbury…is helming the feature project, which is an all-animated venture.

The new movie is looking to tell the origin story of the Smurfs. Papa Smurf is supposed to be the wise, paternal leader of the Smurfs, but that is not always the case.

Colin Hanks, Alex Pettyfer, Johnny Knoxville, Tracy Letts and singer Sky Ferreira have joined Elvis & Nixon

Pettyfer is playing Jerry Schilling, Elvis’ best friend who accompanies the singer to DC. Hanks is playing Nixon’s aide Egil Krogh.
