Latin-American singer Romeo Santos is revving up for a role in Universal’s Fast & Furious 7…Santos’s role has yet to be revealed…He’ll be joining Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, and more newcomers alongside series returners Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Lucas Black, and the late Paul Walker in the James Wan-directed sequel

Star Wars spin-off

After his monster Godzilla opening, director Gareth Edwards has landed the director’s chair for an Untitled Star Wars 3D stand-alone film, which Disney has dated for a December 16, 2016 release.

Gerald’s Game

Mike Flanagan has committed to next helm Gerald’s Game, based on the bestselling novel by Stephen King. Flanagan wrote the script with his writing partner Jeff Howard. Trevor Macy and his Intrepid Pictures banner will produce

Chocolate City

Michael Jai White and model-turned-actor Tyson Beckford are in negotiations to star in the tale of Devin, a college student struggling to make ends meet who meets the owner of a male strip club (White) who convinces him to give amateur night a whirl. Beckford will play Adrian, the club’s former star attraction who finds his popularity fading as the new kid starts to steal the spotlight. [Jean-Claude] LaMarre…wrote and is directing the pic. He’ll also produce for his Nulite banner alongside Gabriel Casseus, Robert Aaronson and Rozina Negusei of Zanar Entertainment.

The Merciless

Marlene King…will adapt and executive produce The Merciless, a feature film based on the upcoming Danielle Vega horror novel about good girls gone evil.

Jem And The Holograms

Jem And The Holograms movie is getting a little more truly outrageous with the addition of Oscar-nominated actress and rocker Juliette Lewis…Jon M. Chu…is directing the modern Jem for Universal and the main cast has been set, with Aubrey Peeples as Starlight Music owner/manager Jerrica Benton aka Jem, Stefanie Scott as Kimber, Aurora Perrineau as Shana, Hayley Kiyoko as Aja, and Ryan Guzman as Rio.

Untitled Steven Spielberg-Tom Hanks Cold War thriller

Joel and Ethan Coen have come onboard to pen a draft of the screenplay that tells the true story of James Donovan, an attorney who was thrust into the center of the Cold War when he negotiated with the KGB for the release of downed U-2 spy plane pilot Gary Powers.

Whitey Bulger biopic

Scott Cooper‘s Whitey Bulger biopic (formerly titled Black Mass) is that it’s just lost Guy Pearce. The good news is, it’s just added Benedict Cumberbatch as his replacement — and Adam Scott, Sienna Miller, and Julianne Nicholson besides.

The quartet join a star-studded cast that also includes Joel Edgerton, Dakota Johnson, Juno Temple, Rory Cochrane, Jesse Plemons, and Johnny Depp as Bulger himself.

Cumberbatch is currently in talks to take over Pearce’s former role as Billy Bulger, brother of Whitey (Depp)…Scott, who’s already closed his deal, will play an FBI agent named Robert Fitzpatrick.

Miller will portray Whitey’s longtime girlfriend Catherine Greig, who was arrested with him, and Nicholson has booked the part of John Connolly’s wife Marianne. David Harbour, Jeremy Strong, Brad Carter, W. Earl Brown, and Corey Stoll have also signed on in unspecified roles.

Pitch Perfect 2

Skylar Astin will be reprising his role of Jesse, the fellow competitive a cappella singer Anna Kendrick‘s Beca fell for in the original. Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, and Adam DeVine are back for Pitch Perfect 2, for producer Elizabeth Banks, who is making her directorial debut. Katey Sagal and Hailee Steinfeld also will star in the pic

In A Valley Of Violence

Taissa Farmiga…[has] joined the cast of the filmmaker’s 1890’s-set Western In A Valley Of Violence, led by Ethan Hawke and John Travolta. Story follows Paul (Hawke), a drifter with nothing to lose who seeks revenge on the thugs who killed his best friend. Farmiga will play a young woman who runs the town’s hotel with her older sister and helps Paul in his quest for vengeance.
