Naomi Watts has signed on to join the next three films in Lionsgate’s Divergent franchise. The actress…is joining the cast of Divergent sequel Insurgent as Evelyn, leader of the Factionless. Watts’ deal calls for to co-star in the futuristic franchise’s two final movies, which are based on Veronica Roth’s YA novel Allegiant, the final book in the Divergent trilogy…Watts joins Octavia Spencer as new additions to the cast.

Untitled NFL’s concussion problem drama

Will Smith is ready to tackle the NFL’s concussion problem as he is in talks to star in the untitled drama based on the GQ article “Game Brain” for Scott Free and Sony.

Peter Landesman (“Parkland”) is on board to write and direct.

Lemonande

Thomas Sadoski (“The Newsroom”) and “New Girl” star Hannah Simone are toplining indie romantic comedy “Lemonade” with Marisa Tomei and Jay Ellis in supporting roles.

Dave Matalon will be making his feature-film directorial debut and directing from his own script.

War of the Roses 2

Alex McAulay has been selected as the screenwriter for the film that “will follow the stories of the now-grown kids of Barbara and Oliver Rose (the latter called Jonathan Rose in both novels), based upon the novel of the same name by War of the Roses author Warren Adler.”

Birth of the Dragon

“The Adjustment Bureau” director George Nolfi has come on board to helm Bruce Lee biopic “Birth of the Dragon” for Groundswell Productions and QED International.

Abe

MGM has set The Strangers writer-director Bryan Bertino to script Abe, the feature based on the chilling short film by British writer/director/VFX artist Rob McLellan. McLellan will make his feature directing debut based on the short about a robot serial killer, and Kevin Misher and Steve Tzirlin will produce it. McLellan wrote the first draft

Tarzan

Warner Bros has set Djimon Hounsou to join Alexander Skarsgard and Margot Robbie in the David Yates-directed Tarzan. Hounsou will play Chief Mbonga in the action adventure.

Star Wars

Disney and Lucasfilm…just set Chronicle helmer Josh Trank…“We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family,” says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. “He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. In A Valley Of Violence

James Ransone (Sinister 2, Inside Man) has been cast opposite John Travolta and Ethan Hawke in director Ti West‘s In A Valley Of Violence… Ransone will play the son of Travolta’s character in a cast that last month added Taissa Farmiga and Karen Gillan as sisters who run the local town hotel.
