Film Casting: Janseen & Grace in TAKEN 3, Gugino in SAN ANDREAS & More

Carla Gugino, Famke Janssen, Maggie Grace, and other actors have all made recent movie casting news. There films include San Andreas, Taken 3, Sugar Mountain, Pan, and Sand Castle respectively.

Carla Gugino…has been cast in New Line’s San Andreas. She’ll play the ex-wife of a Special Ops firefighter (Dwayne Johnson) who treks with him from Los Angeles to San Francisco to rescue his daughter after the Big One hits.

Taken 3

Famke Janssen has closed her deal to reprise her role in Taken 3.

Maggie Grace is set to reprise her role in the third and final installment of the Taken movie franchise. Grace, who played star Liam Neeson’s daughter in the first two movies, is the first cast member with a deal in place to rejoin Neeson in the 20th Century Fox/EuropaCorp threequel, which eyes start of filming at the T-22end of the month.

Sugar Mountain

Cary Elwes, Jason Momoa, Drew Roy, Haley Webb and Shane Coffey have been cast in the dark comedy/thriller Sugar Mountain, an indie feature…directed by Richard Gray….The pic centers on two down-on-their-luck brothers who fake a disappearance in the wilderness so they’ll have a great survival story to sell. But the hoax turns out to be more real than they planned.

Pan

Rooney Mara is in negotiations to play Tiger Lily in Pan, Warner Bros‘ feature film being directed by Joe Wright from a Jason Fuchs script that serves as an origin story for Peter Pan. Hugh Jackman is already aboard to play Blackbeard and Garrett Hedlund is playing Captain Hook. It opens July 17, 2015. In the original story, Tiger Lily is the princess of a Native American tribe living in Neverland.

Sand Castle

Nicholas Hoult will star in the Iraqi war drama, Sand Castle, based on true-life events…Written by Chris Roessner and based on his two years and more than 200 missions as a machine gunner in Iraq’s Sunni Triangle…It tells the tale of “Matt Ocre (Hoult) and the leader of his platoon, Sergeant Baker, as they attempt to protect Baqubah, a dangerous farming village.”
