Film Casting: Julie Delpy Joins THE BACHELORS

Julie Delpy

Julie Delpy slated to appear in The Bachelors. The Before Sunrise and Before Sunset actress will star in the upcoming ensemble comedic drama.

The addition of Delpy to the film’s cast raises it’s profile significantly. The actress received two Oscar nominations for Best Screenplay for the aforementioned films she starred in, so it’s likely the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be closely watching The Bachelors as it approaches release. More recently, Delpy acted in Wiener Dog, a current Sundance Film Festival entry also featuring Danny DeVito and Greta Gerwig.

With Kurt Voelker serving as both screenwriter and director for the project, The Bachelors is scheduled to begin shooting this March in Los Angeles and will be financed by Windowseat Entertainment. The movie’s story is described as follows:

Hoping for a fresh start, a widower and his 17-year-old son move from a small northern California town to Los Angeles, where a new job, a new school, a wry old friend and two extraordinary women play a transformative role in the reshaping of their lives.

‘We were immediately drawn to ‘The Bachelors’ as an intimate, timeless human story that is superbly written,’ says Windowseat’s Joe McKelheer. ‘We are very excited to be joined by such a talented and multi-faceted cast.’

McKelheer has good reason to be excited by the film’s cast. Starring opposite Delpy is fellow Academy Award nominee J.K. Simmons, who earned an Oscar for his performance in 2014’s Whiplash. Prior to his turn as the volatile Fletcher, Simmons appeared in comedies like Juno, Burn After Reading, and The Ladykillers. With this impressive background, it is safe to say Simmons, like Delpy, has the range to act in a multi-layered project like The Bachelors.
