the drama with Garth Davis (Top Of The Lake) directing from a screenplay by Luke Davies…Rooney Mara, David Wenham (Banished) and Divian Ladwa (Detectorists) are joining the See-Saw Films drama that stars Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel.

Also featuring in the film are Indian actors including Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Priyanka Bose, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Deepti Naval.

Untitled Mariah Carey Christmas pitch

New Line has pre-emptively bought an untitled Mariah Carey Christmas pitch from RatPac Entertainment, writers David Diamond and David Weissman…The plan is for Carey to play a major role in the film. The project came about when Carey brought an idea to RatPac principal and her pal Brett Ratner for a movie about Christmas.

They are keeping the plot of the Xmas film under wraps, but the holiday is at the film’s center, along with a theme of how the power of music can transport you back in time to your truest and most authentic feelings.

Keeping Up With the Joneses

Maribeth Monroe and Veep’s Matt Walsh are moving into the neighborhood for Fox’s comedy Keeping Up With the Joneses.

Monroe and Walsh will play another couple living in the neighborhood.

Olivia Wilde will reprise her character  Quorra “from 2010’s Tron: Legacy in the sequel, which is being directed by Joseph Kosinski.”

Tupac Shakur Biopic

John Singleton…has been attached to the project since 2014 and has had the vocal support of Shakur’s family in bringing the slain rapper’s life to the big screen — but a deep creative rift has Singleton stepping down from directing.

Carl Franklin, who directed Denzel Washington in 1995’s “Devil in a Blue Dress,” will replace Singleton

Michelle Darnell

Kristen Schaal…has joined the cast of Universal Pictures’ Michelle Darnell

Kristen Bell, Kathy Bates and Peter Dinklage are also in the film, which is being directed by McCarthy’s husband, Ben Falcone.

The script, written by McCarthy and Falcone alongside their Groundlings collaborator Steve Mallory, centers on a captain of industry who is sent to prison after she’s caught for insider trading. When she emerges ready to rebrand herself as America’s latest sweetheart with the help of a former assistant, not everyone she screwed over is so quick to forgive and forget.

Schaal will play a scout leader.

Free Fire

Brie Larson is set to join the ensemble of Ben Wheatley’s next thriller “Free Fire.”

Luke Evans, Armie Hammer and Cillian Murphy also star. Larson is replacing Olivia Wilde, who had to drop out because of her schedule.

Wheatley will write and direct.

“Free Fire” is set in 1978 in a deserted warehouse where a meeting between two gangs turns into a deadly shootout and all-out survival.
