O2, Chaos WalkingShazam!, and other films have made recent casting news.

These productions come from studios based primarily in the United States. The castings are subject to change.


Dwayne Johnson will not be appearing as Black Adam in Warner Bros.’ upcoming superhero film Shazam! Instead, the DC Comics villain will make his big screen debut in a movie of his own. David Sandburg has been tapped to direct Shazam! and filming on the project begins next year.

Chaos Walking

Mads Mikkelsen is in the middle of negotiations to join the planned science fiction movie Chaos Walking. The actor is reportedly being eyed for a villain role by Lionsgate. If Mikkelsen joins the production, he will act opposite leads Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley. Like Holland and Ridley, Mikkelsen has acted in the Star Wars and Marvel film franchises.


Anne Hathaway will play the lead role in IM Global’s proposed sci-fi-fi thriller O2. The company is still in the process of securing financing for the film, with production costs estimated to come in close to $10 million.

The Outpost

Rod Lurie is set to direct a movie adaptation of Jake Tapper’s book The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor. The film will follow the struggle of 50 soldiers to overcome the 400-strong Taliban force besieging their base in Afghanistan.

Tell No One

F. Scott Frazier will pen the script for Universal Pictures’ Tell No One.
