Pokémon, Courage, Mulan, and other films have made recent film casting, screenwriting, and director news. These films come from movie studios primarily based in the United States and abroad. The castings, screenwriters, and directors are subject to change.
Liu Yifei has been cast as Mulan in the live-action adaptation of the 1998 Walt Disney film. Mulan is based on “Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, a female warrior who disguises herself as a man in order to take the place of her aging father in the military.”
Lauren Hynek and Elizabeth Martin wrote the screenplay for the film.
Bradley Whitford, Toby Kebbell, and Scoot McNairy have been cast in a unspecified role.
They join already cast Nicole Kidman, Tatiana Maslany, and Sebastian Stan in the Karyn Kusama-directed film.
Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi wrote the script for the film.
Destroyer‘s plot synopsis: “Destroyer follows the moral and existential odyssey of LAPD detective Erin Bell who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past.”
Sean Astin has been cast Jeremy, “a man who is described as a “beautiful disaster” of a man who is destroyed on the inside. He meets the titular Gloria in a Las Vegas casino and they have a wild, alcohol-fueled, romantically charged evening together that ends with Gloria awakening beside the hotel pool — completely alone and badly hung-over.”
Astin joins already cast Julianne Moore, Michael Cera, John Turturro, and Jeanne Tripplehorn.
Gloria‘s plot synopsis: “a woman who is starting over and is looking for love in her 50s.”

Matthew Quick has been hired to write the script for the Bryce Dallas Howard-directed film.

Kathryn Newton has been cast as Lucy, “a journalist who accompanies [Justice Smith]’s character on [a live-action Pokémon] adventure.”
Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch wrote the script for the Rob Letterman-directed film.
Alex Tse has been hired to write the script for the remake of the 1972 blaxploitation crime drama.
Matthew Vaughn may direct this film.
Karl Gaidusek wrote the script for this film.
Courage is a sci-fi/action film described as “a drama in the vein of Inception and Edge of Tomorrow.”
