Film Casting: SCOUTS VS. ZOMBIES, MAN OF STEEL 2, GRIMSBY, WATCH DOGS

Scouts vs. Zombies, Man of Steel 2, Peter Pan, Spy, Grimsby, Watch Dogs, and other films have all made recent film casting, screenwriting, and director news. These films come from movie studios primarily based in the United States. The castings, screenwriters, and directors are subject to change.

Man of Steel 2 aka Batman vs. Superman (Warner Bros.)

Warner Bros. and DC have tapped theater actor Ray Fisher for the role of Cyborg in the untitled Batman-Superman pic. Victor Stone or Cyborg, while not a major part in the Batman-Superman feature, is a member of the Justice League, and the role will become much more significant role as Warner and DC develop more films related to the Justice League universe

Peter Pan (Warner Bros.)

Hugh Jackman stars as Blackbeard; Garrett Hedlund is Hook; Rooney Mara is Tiger Lily; Adeel Akhtar is Smee; and newcomer Levi Miller is Peter. Amanda Seyfried plays Mary, alongside Jack Charles as The Chief/Tiger Lily’s father; Taejoo Na is Kwahu; Nonso Anozie is Bishop; Kathy Burke is Mother Barnabas; Kurt Egyiawan is Murray; Lewis MacDougall is Nibs; and newcomer Leni Zieglmeier is Wendy Darling. Jason Fucks wrote the script, and Greg Berlanti, Paul Webster and SarahSchechter are producing, with Tim Lewis serving as executive producer.

Spy (Fox)

director Paul Feig has found his for Spy, the comedy that stars Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, Rose Byrne, Jude Law, Bobby Cannavale, Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson and Miranda Hart. Feig has added Bollywood star Nargis Fakhri, British comic actor Peter Serafinowicz and Swedish comedian Bjorn Gustafsson.

Feig also added Verka Serduchka, the transgender Ukrainian pop star

Grimsby (Sony Pictures)

Mark Strong has been set to star alongside Sacha Baron Cohen in Grimsby, the Louis Leterrier-directed comedy for Sony Pictures. Scripted by Baron Cohen, Phil Johnston and Peter Baynham, the comedy is about a British black-ops spy (Strong) whose idiotic brother is an English football hooligan (Baron Cohen).

Youth In Oregon

Joel David Moore is set to direct comedic drama Youth In Oregon, about a man who must drive his 80-year-old father-in-law cross country to be euthanized…Youth In Oregon is scripted by Andrew Eisen and will be produced by Stefan Nowicki, Joey Carey and Morgan White for Sundial Pictures

Scouts Vs. Zombies (Paramount Pictures)

Patrick Schwarzenegger has been cast in Scouts Vs. Zombies, the Paramount genre mash-up that will be directed by Christopher Landon… Tye Sheridan, Logan Miller, Joseph Morgan and David Koechner also star. Andy Fickman, Todd Garner, Bryan Brucks and Betsy Sullenger are producing.

The Driftless Area

Anton Yelchin and Zooey Deschanel will star alongside John Hawkes in The Driftless Area, a dark comedy from director and co-writer Zachary Sluser…Ciaran Hinds and Alia Shawkat co-star in the dark comedy based on the novel by Tom Drury, who co-wrote the screenplay…Keith Kjarval and Aaron L. Gilbert are producing with Nicole Romano as exec producer.

October Gale

Scott Speedman is set to star opposite Patricia Clarkson in October Gale, the drama written and directed by Ruba Nadda…Speedman plays a mysterious man who, during a violent October storm, washes up on the shore of Helen Matthews’ remote island cottage, unconscious and bleeding from a gunshot wound. Clarkson plays the recently widowed doctor who takes him in, only to find that the shooter is coming back to finish the job and that the storm has cut them off from the mainland. Daniel Iron will produce through Foundry Films, and Christine Vachon will be exec producer through Killer Films.

A Monster Calls (Focus Features)

Felicity Jones is making a deal to star in A Monster Calls, the Juan Antonio Bayona-directed adaptation of the Patrick Ness children’s fantasy novel. I’ve heard that she will play the character of Mum, and that the filmmakers are courting Liam Neeson for the role of the Monster

Watch Dogs

Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have been set to script Watch Dogs, a live-action feature based on the upcoming Ubisoft video game..The story centers on Aiden Pearce, a hacker who turns the city of Chicago into his personal stomping grounds to carry out his own brand of justice after a violent family tragedy. He is certainly adept physically, but his true gift is his ability to tap into a citywide computer system and control everything from traffic lights to accessing intel that allows him to engage the bad guys, and thwart attempts to kill innocents.

Criminal Activities

Jackie Earle Haley [will]…make his feature debut on Criminal Activities, an indie crime drama that stars John Travolta, Michael Pitt, Dan Stevens and Rebecca Da Costa. Haley will also appear in the film. Pic is about four young guys who reunite at an ex-classmate’s funeral. One mentions to the others inside information on a stock that is a guaranteed lock to make them instant millionaires. Unfortunately, the deal goes south along with their investment. Things go from bad to worse: one of them borrowed his share of the money from a mobster.
