Film Casting: THE SNOWMAN, SPECTRE, Ronda Rousey in ROAD HOUSE Remake

Among the other necessary components for a Bond movie to be a Bond movie is a high profile theme song and Spectre now has one in Spectre‘s Writing On The Wall.

Gifted

Director Marc Webb is building a great cast for his Fox Searchlight drama Gifted. Oscar winner Octavia Spencer and 9-year-old McKenna Grace have joined Chris Evans in the film.

Scripted by Tom Flynn, the drama tells the story of Frank Adler (Evans), a deliberate underachiever who is raising his niece Mary (Grace) in rural Florida. When he enrolls her in school for the first time, she is labeled as “gifted.” All Frank wants is for Mary to have a normal life, but standing in his way is her grandmother Evelyn and the dilemma that he doesn’t have custody of the child. He decides to take legal action.

Spencer plays Roberta Taylor, the outspoken landlord of Frank and a good friend to both him and Mary. In the vein of Kramer vs. Kramer, the child is one of the lead roles in this film.

Lindsay DuncanIn addition, Lindsay Duncan (Alice Through The Looking Glass, Birdman) is playing the role of Evelyn, described as Frank’s mother who is aristocratic and proper who took over the custody of Mary after her daughter committed suicide.

Gotti

Kevin Connolly has been set to direct, with John Travolta still aboard to play Gotti Sr.

The elder Gotti was a Gotham tabloid fixture known as the Dapper Don for his impeccable designer suits, and also the Teflon Don for all the times the federal government came at him and failed to get a conviction. He was finally undone when his right hand enforcer, Sammy “The Bull” Gravano testified against the boss. Gotti died in prison of cancer.

Baby Driver

Jamie Foxx is in talks to board Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver opposite Lily James and Ansel Elgort. The film follows a crime boss who coerces a young, talented getaway driver to work for him. Elgort pays the driver, who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best. He must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.

MGM has decided to move forward with a new take on 1980s action pic “Road House,” with [UFC fighter Ronda Rousey] expected to step into the role Patrick Swayze made famous.

Sources say MGM is currently meeting with writers to pen the script with with no shortage of scirbes getting in line for the opportunity to do so.

Based on the physicality of Swayze’s performance, Rousey’s experience in mixed martial arts makes her a clear choice for the role.

Emergence

Andre Ovredal has boarded sci-fi thriller “Emergence”

The film, written by Rowan O’Neill and Jonathan auf der Heide with the story by Chris Kunzmann and O’Neill…follows a mining crew working on a distant moon that faces a frantic struggle for survival when a rogue terraforming organism is accidentally released on the surface, spreading like wildfire as it consumes anything in its path.

Tomas Alfredson will direct…Soren Sveistrup penned the script.
