Aaron Paul has joined the cast of Miramax’s supernatural thriller The 9th Life Of Louis Drax, directed by Horns‘ Alexandre Aja. He’ll play Peter, Louis Drax’s father, who becomes the target of a criminal investigation when his young son is injured in an accident.

All The Old Knives

Neil Burger is attached to direct All The Old Knives, the spy thriller adaptation of Olen Steinhauer’s upcoming novel…The author wrote the script.

Truth

Elisabeth Moss is set to join Robert Redford and Cate Blanchett in Truth…James Vanderbilt…is making his directorial debut on the pic, which is based on [Mary Mapes]’ 2005 memoir Truth And Duty: The Press, The President, And The Privilege Of Power. Redford is aboard to play Rather and Blanchett will play Mapes. Moss will play CBS veteran Lucy Scott, now a journalism professor in Dallas, who is brought on board by Mapes as her new associate producer to “run point” on the story controversy.

The Thicket

Peter Dinklage is set to star in period crime drama The Thicket, based on Joe Lansdale’s novel. He plays Shorty, a crafty bounty hunter enlisted to find a woman who has been kidnapped by a violent killer at the turn of the 20th century. He and his fellow trackers venture into the deadly no-man’s land known as the Big Thicket, a place where blood and chaos reign.

The Finest Hours

John Magaro has been cast in Disney’s The Finest Hours. The Craig Gillespie-directed film chronicles the massive rescue mission that’s launched when a pair of oil tankers split in two off the coast of Cape Cod in 1952. Magaro play Ervin Maske, a visiting Coast Guard member who volunteers to join Bernie (Chris Pine) in the rescue. He’s never been on a rescue but is loyal and determined to save lives

Untitled Celebrity Death Pool comedy

Jim Jefferies, Rhys Darby, Jon Lovitz, Flula Borg, Dan Bakkedahl and Colton Dunn have joined the cast of the untitled Celebrity Death Pool…Director Darren Grant’s film centers on a struggling nightclub owner who, after amassing a large debt from a loan shark, sets out to win his long-running celebrity death pool by attempting to kill his chosen celebrity, David Hasselhoff.

Kirk Douglas Biopic

Dean O’Gorman…will portray the iconic actor in the Dalton Trumbo biopic starring Bryan Cranston.

Jay Roach is directing the indie, which sees Cranston portraying the screenwriter who was blacklisted in Hollywood’s golden age for his ties to the Communist party.

The movie already has David James Elliot playing Hollywood icon John Wayne, Michael Stuhlbarg as actor Edward G. Robinson. There’s also Diane Lane as Trumbo’s wife and Helen Mirren as gossip columnist Hedda Hopper. The cast also includes John Goodman, Peter Mackenzie and Roger Bart.
