The nominations for the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards have been announced. The Independent Spirit Awards “are awards dedicated to independent filmmakers. Winners were typically presented with acrylic glass pyramids containing suspended shoestrings representing the paltry budgets of independent films…The Independent Spirit Awards are presented by Film Independent, a non-profit organization dedicated to independent film and independent filmmakers.” Winter’s Bone leads the nominations this year with a total of seven. “These nominations are only given to films which were produced for under $20 million…The awards will be handed out on February 26[, 2010] live on IFC with host Joel McHale.” The full listing of the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards are below.
