Star Wars: Episode IX

Rian Johnson is said to be in the running to replace Colin Trevorrow as the director of Star Wars: Episode IX. Trevorrow’s departure from the project was announced only today, with Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Pictures describing it as a mutual decision on the part of both parties. Johnson would be a logical replacement given that he is already helming The Last Jedi, which is set to hit theaters on May 24th, 2019.

Izabela Vidovic and Olivia Nikkanen have both been cast as guest stars in Supergirl. The two actresses will appear in a series of flashbacks in an upcoming episode, with Vidovic set to play a young Kara and Nikkanen cast as young Alex. Vidovic has previously appeared in The Fosters, while Nikkanen is known for her role in The Americans.

Billy Magnussen has signed onto the cast of Guy Ritchie’s live-action Aladdin remake.

Antonio Banderas will portray acclaimed Spanish artist Pablo Picasso in the planned second season of National Geographic’s biographical drama series Genius.

Keke Palmer has been cast in a recurring role in the second season of Star.
