THE FLASH: Tom Cavanagh Returning in Third Season as Series Regular [The CW]

Tom Cavanagh The Flash Season Two

Tom Cavanagh to Return to The Flash in Third Season as Series Regular. We may not have seen the last of Harrison Wells as The CW hit series will be bringing back Tom Cavanagh in the third season when The Flash returns this Fall. But the question is, who will he be playing?

The second season came to a close as Earth-2 Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) returned home with his daughter, seemingly closing his story, or so we thought. We first learned in the series that the actual Harrison Wells died in season one with Eobard Thawne masquerading as him. With EW confirming that the actor will be coming back for a third season as a series regular, it had us thinking what character he might be playing. Well, if you have seen this week’s season finale [SPOILERS!], a new timeline has been set.

We did just see Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) go back in time to save his mother from Reverse-Flash, changing the timeline completely. What we could be looking at is an adaptation of the Flashpoint storyline when the series returns in the Fall. With Barry stopping Reverse-Flash, that may prevent the evil speedster from killing Earth-1 Harrison Wells and the Earth-2 version becoming unaffected by this change in the timeline. What are your theories on who Tom Cavanagh will play next season?
