GAMBIT (2016): Anna Paquin Won’t Appear as Rogue in X-Men Spin-off

Anna Paquin X-Men

Anna Paquin Confirms No Appearance in Gambit. We don’t know if Rogue will appear in the new X-Men spinoff Gambit, but we now know that Anna Paquin won’t appear as the character alongside Channing Tatum. Anna Paquin appeared as Rogue in four X-Men films.

Anna Paquin answered a fan’s question on her Twitter page regarding whether she would be in Gambit, and she replied with a simple ‘No’. Gambit and Rogue has had an on-and-off relationship in the comics, but their love story has been among Marvel’s most well known. This would be disappointing to fans who wanted to see Rogue and Gambit’s romance on screen. However, we shouldn’t dismiss the possibility of her appearing in the film, whether she will be recast or not. Paquin’s last appearance was in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Right now, the film still has some trouble ahead after the exit of director Rupert Wyatt a couple of weeks ago, with the studio in search of a new director to helm the movie. The film is still scheduled for release on October 7, 2016, but it may get pushed back if no one steps up before filming starts. What do you guys think of Anna Paquin not playing Rogue in Gambit? Should another actress play the role or should the character be dropped?
