GAME CHANGER: THE LEGACY OF ‘SAW’ (2015) Movie Clip: Retrospective Documentary on SAW Series

Game Changer: The Legacy of Saw Movie Clip

Game Changer: The Legacy of ‘Saw’ Movie Clip. There’s a new box-set titled Saw: The Complete Collection. This set contains a documentary, called Game Changer: The Legacy of ‘Saw’, that works as a retrospective on the franchise. If you’re not into physical media – or are only interested in watching the documentary as opposed to picking up the entire box-set – head to iTunes where purchasing Saw: Unrated will get you Game Changer, as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed Saw (2004) when it came out. It’s a tight, compact horror flick. This is one of those occurrences where time and money constraints actually seemed to elevate the film, bringing out a creativity based on limited locations and possibilities. There are very few characters in the entire film, and just as many locations. The thrill is the mystery, and the allure of an inevitable reveal. When that final twist actually comes, its cathartic, twisted, and effective.

The gore in this film was, of course, a huge plus. You know someone’s cutting a limb off, eventually. ‘Torture porn’ is nothing without dread, and a stretching of tension that you know will snap sooner or later. Saw did that very well.

As is usual with most horror franchises, I don’t care too much for the sequels. I dropped out after the immediate sequel, and didn’t care for the mythology they were building around “Jigsaw”. I liked the minimalism of the first one – few answers, the ones we got were simple. I don’t need to know the guy’s lifestory, empathize with him, or see him hand his reigns off to an honourable follower of his practices.

In any case, there’s a whole new box-set, for those hardcore Saw fans out there. If this is you – or, if you love making of’s, documentaries, and retrospectives like me – pick up the box-set or buy Saw: Unrated on iTunes to watch Game Changer: The Legacy of ‘Saw’ (2015).

We have a clip to entice you! Take a look below.

DreadCentral has this info on the the documentary, “The film that redefined the horror genre, Saw: Unrated, is making audiences shriek all over again. Generations of movie fans have been thrilled and terrified by Saw’s blood-curdling story of a serial killer who traps his victims in a sadistic game of survival. For true horror fans who want a peek behind the scenes of the creation and development of the most successful horror franchise in history, the iTunes digital release of Saw: Unrated and Saw: The Complete Collection now includes a brand-new three-part, 77-minute retrospective, Game Changer: The Legacy of Saw.

Game Changer: The Legacy of Saw digs into the guts of the successful franchise with all-new interviews with creators James Wan (director of Furious 7) and Leigh Whannell (writer of the Insidious franchise) plus original cast members Tobin Bell, Shawnee Smith, and Cary Elwes and producers of the Saw franchise, Mark Burg and Oren Koules. Learn about the inspiration for the film from the creators of Saw; get a closer look at the infamous reverse bear trap mask with Shawnee Smith; hear from directors Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV), David Hackl (Saw V), and Kevin Greutert (Saw IV, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter); and see Eli Roth’s (Hostel) take on the ‘torture porn’ genre. In the famous words of Jigsaw, it is time to ‘make your choice.’

Watch or don’t watch. Choose wisely.”

I grew up in Hamburg to a German father and Ecuadorian mother. Obsessive student of film, Hip-Hop, and stand-up comedy. I love the dark dreambox that is the cinema auditorium. I love mountains and the ocean, but am equally exhilarated by the jungle of the city. I hope to one day create something that hits someone in the brain with thunderous effect.
