GAME OF THRONES: Season 2: Lisa Nolan quits over Nudity

Lisa Nolan

Lisa Nolan Game of Thrones Season 2 quits over nudity. Lisa Nolan of Game of Thrones: Season 2 nudity quit surprised many, including probably show writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. “Model turned actress Lisa Nolan has abruptly quit her role as a King’s mistress after being asked to bare all for a sex scene in HBO’s dark fantasy Emmy nominated series, returning in early 2012.” Game of Thrones: Season 1 was chalk full of nudity in varying degrees, especially with the women of the HBO show. Emilia Clarke (pictured here: Game of Thrones: Season 1, Episode 2: The Kingsroad Photos), Esmé Bianco (pictured here: Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming: High Resolution Photos), Kate Dickie, and Emily Diamond (pictured here: TV Review/Photos: Game of Thrones: Season 1, Episode 5: The Wolf and the Lion) can all attest to that.

Lisa Nolan had to know what was required of her, what she was in for but she claims a bait and switch.

The 22-year-old Irish model/actress walked off the set after she was asked to strip down despite being promised “no nudity” when she initially signed up to play the King’s mistress earlier this year.

According to HBO Watch, the actress has admitted to knowing the scene would be raunchy, but the experience wasn’t what she expected. Said Nolan:

The 12 hour filming session to her “looked like it was going to basically be soft porn. As well as modelling I study Sports Physiotherapy so I want to be taken seriously, I wouldn’t if I had given in and filmed the scene. It was my own fault really because I didn’t research the show properly. The money was amazing and the idea of it all was so glamorous but I’m glad I walked away because now I have my dignity intact,” she explained.

“The whole experience was surreal. But I was in a totally different environment than what I’m used to. I would love to get into acting but right now I’m not focused on it. So I’m glad the producers of Game of Thrones did contact me for the role, because now I know I have the face for TV,” she said.

She had the wrong show for that. SP is the dominion of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, and most-likely if true-to-form, Spartacus: Vengeance.

“I thought it wasn’t a sex scene and they said they would give me skin patches for my breasts. But when I got there they wanted me to be fully topless and in the scene I had to strip off. So I pulled out at the last minute.”

Some see this as a potentially bad move of her part.

At the end of the day, though, she signed a contract and then she walked out on it. That’s likely to do more damage to her acting and modeling career than a few naked photos.

It could have been a mis-communication between parties but once again, Lisa Nolan should have watched (researched) previous episodes of Game of Thrones. Nudity is rampant in Westeros and the Free Cities.

Other Game of Thrones: Season 2 cast includes:

Stephen Dillane (John Adams, King Arthur) as Stannis Baratheon and Carice van Houten (Repo Men) as Melisandre. More additions include Liam Cunningham (Camelot) as the onion knight Davos, Natalie Dormer (The Tudors) as Margaery Tyrell, Gwendoline Christie as the knight Brienne, Nonso Anozie as a merchant prince, Tom Wlaschiha as the assassin Jaqen H’gar, Roy Dotrice as a pyromancer, Oliver Ford Davies as Maester Cressen, a maester in service to Stannis Baratheon, Ben Crompton (“Man Stroke Woman”) as Dolorous Edd of the Night’s Watch, Michael McElhatton, Robert Pugh, Hannah Murray, and Gemma Whelan as the axe wielding Yara Greyjoy.

If you are new to the series, Game of Thrones is

an HBO adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire”. Set in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, where summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime, Game of Thrones chronicles the violent dynastic struggles among the kingdom’s seven noble families for control of the Iron Throne.
