GHOSTBUSTERS (2016): Melissa McCarthy in Jumpsuit Set Image

Ghostbusters Costumes Revealed

Melissa McCarthy Ghostbusters Set Image.  There’s no doubt that, from a marketing strategy, Feig knows exactly what fans of the series want to see.  So far, we’ve been treated to tweets of images such as re-imaginings of uniforms, the Ecto-1 and the proton pack.  Today, Feig has granted us a head-to-toe look at Melissa McCarthy in full jumpsuit.

The suit itself isn’t a giant leap from the original 1984 film, though the “ruined my childhood” crowd still have enough to complain about.  The extra dash of colour from the orange stripes can arguably resemble a prison uniform or someone better off directing traffic.  Personally, it’s refreshing that all the gear retains the kind of gritty, working class simplicity of the original.

Yet of all the little nods to the original revealed so far, the most encouraging is the cast.  None of the four new Ghostbusters feel like counterparts to the original cast.  Their own comedic personalities don’t allow for “the Venkman one” or “the Spengler” of the dynamic.

According to Bloody-Digusting, the plot synopsis is as follows:

[Kristen] Wiig and [Melissa] McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia.

Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.

Ghostbusters will star Kristen WiigMelissa McCarthy, Chris Hemsworth, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Mark Burzenski. Ghostbusters will be released on July 22, 2016.
