Gosling Wants Onboard Of The New Ghostbusters. This past week has provided a cornucopia of major news for fans that are breathlessly anticipating the upcoming Ghostbusters movie. After reports surfaced that stated Emma Stone, Melissa McCarthy, Amy Schumer, Lizzy Caplan and Jennifer Lawrence are the frontrunners for the predominantly female cast, it has now come to light which A-list celebrity is a candidate for the lead male role.

According to The Daily Beast, an email to Amy Pascal (co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment) from Michael De Luca (co-president of production for Columbia Pictures) he confirms that Ryan Gosling’s talent manager (Ilene Feldman) informed him that Ryan was interested in the Ghostbusters project.

Ever since the release of details stating that the upcoming Ghostbusters film intended to “gender swap” the lead characters, the project has been at the center of a great deal of online controversy. In the original movie, the prominent female roles were for a damsel in distress/love interest and the Ghostbuster’s secretary. It will be interesting to see if the male lead’s role in the film will get to work alongside the ladies or be a helpless victim that needs saving.
