THE GIFTED (2017) TV Show Trailer: It’s Like HEROES but with Marvel Characters [Fox]

The Gifted Trailer Released by Fox

The full TV show trailer for The Gifted (2017) has been released by Marvel Television and Fox. Following the release of the teaser trailer last week, the full The Gifted promo provides context for the imagery that was shown previously. Because of that context, the viewer now knows that The Gifted, at least in part, resembles NBC’s Heroes.

Like in Heroes, the father of a female mutant is also the person who hunts down mutants as part of a government-run organization (in The Gifted it’s called Sentinel Services). Unlike in Heroes, the entire female mutant’s family seems as though they go on the run after Sentinel Services finds out about her and her brother’s powers.

Andy Stewart (Percy Hynes White) seems as though he is the more powerful of the Stewart children, though he does not know how to use those powers yet. Lauren Stewart (Natalie Alyn Lind) seems as though she has already mastered her abilities.

Bullying is becoming a recurring theme in recent teen-oriented programming. Unlike in 13 Reason Why, the bullying presented in The Gifted is far more overt and intended to terrify its victim. Luckily for the victim in The Gifted, he has a volatile and startling means of self-defense.

X-Men lore is brought up in this The Gifted trailer. Obviously, nobody in The Gifted universe knows of the secrets that Charles Xavier’s School for the Gifted and the X-Men seem to have faded from the public eye. Whether that changes as the Stewart family goes on the lame is something that we will have to wait and see.

The Gifted also stars Stephen Moyer, Jamie Chung, Sean Teale, Blair Redford, and Amy Acker.

The Gifted‘s plot synopsis: “The Gifted will focus on two ordinary parents (Moyer and Acker) who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.”
