The Girl with All the Gifts U.S. Trailer

The United States movie trailer for The Girl with All the Gifts (2016) has been released. Much like the U.K. movie trailer released for the film months back, the main plot-line of the film is laid out. New scenes from all three acts of the film are present but none give away how the film ends.

The Girl with All the Gifts has many turning points, especially at the beginning, but if you have not read the book this film is based on, you will not know what those beats are in this trailer. That is a good thing. There is a trend within some movie studios to spoil their own film in the trailer. Producers hope to lure in more customers by spoiling the film. The Girl with All the Gifts did not fall into that trap.

This trailer does show all of the accolades that The Girl with All the Gifts has received internationally. I have seen the film (and read the book) and can personally attest to the fact that it is good horror film (and a better adaptation than I was expecting).

The Girl with All the Gifts‘ plot synopsis (spoilers): based on the book by M.R. Carey, “The near future; humanity has been all but destroyed by a mutated fungal disease that eradicates free will and turns its victims into flesh-eating “hungries”. Only a small group of children seem immune to its effects.

At an army base in rural England, this group of unique children are being studied, subjected to cruel experiments by biologist Dr. Caldwell. Despite having been infected with the zombie pathogen that has decimated the world, these children retain normal thoughts and emotions. And while still being subject to the craving for human flesh that marks the disease these second- generation “hungries” are able to think and feel making them a vital resource in the search for a cure.

The children attend school lessons daily, guarded by the ever watchful Sergeant Parks. But one little girl, Melanie, stands out from the rest. Melanie is special. She excels in the classroom, is inquisitive, imaginative and loves her favorite teacher Miss Justineau.

When the base falls, Melanie escapes along with Miss Justineau, Sergeant Parks and Dr. Caldwell. Against the backdrop of a blighted Britain, Melanie must discover what she is and ultimately decide both her own future and that of the human race.”

Colm McCarthy‘s The Girl with All the Gifts stars Gemma Arterton, Glenn Close, Paddy ConsidineSennia Nanua, Dominique Tipper, Anamaria Marinca, Fisayo Akinade, Lobna Futers, Daniel Eghan, Anthony Welsh, Elise Reed, Ross Green, Amy Floyd, and Tessa Morris.
