GOD PARTICLE (2017): Elizabeth Debicki Added To Cast

Elizabeth Debicki

Elizabeth Debicki joins the cast of God Particle. The Night Manager and Man From U.N.C.L.E. actress will appear in the upcoming science fiction drama from J.J. AbramsBad Robot.

Known for her appearances in big-budgeted period pieces like The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and The Great Gatsby, the film is a dramatic change of pace for Debicki. Set in outer space and in spite of it’s modest budget, God Particle has already assembled a motley team of actors that includes Interstellar‘s David Oyewolo, Concussion‘s Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and 13 HoursJohn Krasinski. Krasinski’s involvement is reportedly in jeopardy, however, due to his signing on as the lead in Amazon‘s Jack Ryan series:

The plot of God Particle is said to revolve around an American space station that, after an accident with a particle accelerator, suddenly finds that Earth has vanished altogether. Things get stranger when they then they pick up traces of another space station nearby. Some rumors say this may be the next “spiritual successor” to Cloverfield after 10 Cloverfield Lane, but whether it turns out to be called “Cloverfield Particle” or remain an unbranded, unique story is yet to be seen.

In physics, the “God Particle” is a nickname given to the hypothetical Higgs boson, a particle upon which much of our understanding of quantum physics is based. The world’s largest particle accelerator, the Large Hadron Collider, was built in Geneva, Switzerland in an attempt to prove the Higgs boson’s existence.
