Godkiller Comic Series to Be Made as an Animated Film Trilogy. The post-apocalyptic series Godkiller is heading to the screen as the comics are set to be a new trilogy of animated films. The saga follows a teenage orphan and an escaped slavegirl traveling through an apocalyptic wasteland.
According to Deadline, Godkiller will be self-financed and produced by an unknown publisher and transmedia company. The series debuted in 2008 as an indie comic and gained a cult following. The comic had recently went into its second print after debuting last week through Black Mask Studios, who are also developing Five Ghosts for Syfy.
Matt Pizzolo, who also co-created the comic with Anna Muckracker Wieszczyk and Ben Templesmith will direct and write the script for the films. Mike Pizzolo had already made the an illustrated feature back in 2010 called Godkiller: Walk Among Us. The film was distributed on home video as well as digital. The film featured the voices of AFI’s Davey Havok, Bill Moseley, Danielle Harris, Lydia Lunch, and Lance Henriksen.
The 2010 film will be remastered using green screen, rotoscope, and CG technology in order to launch a new series of Godkiller animated features for 2015. After Godkiller: Walk Among Us, the next sequels will be titled Godkiller: Tomorrow’s Ashes and Godkiller: The Trouble You Took From Her Eyes. The last two parts of the trilogy will be released in 2016 and 2017 using different animation techniques to indicate the story’s journey through diverse dimensions. The films will have Brett Gurewitz, Steve Niles, and Brian Giberson producing with some new and returning cast members.
