Gods Of Egypt Movie Trailer. Alex Proyas‘ Gods of Egypt (2016) movie trailer stars Gerard Butler, Nicolaj Coster-Waldau, and Brenton ThwaitesGods of Egypt‘s plot synopsis: “A common thief joins a mythical god on a quest through Egypt.”

Well. This certainly looks imperfect.

Alex Proyas is a major talent, but his track record isn’t the best. He often fumbles, and I often wonder who the target audiences for some of his films are. While this trailer contains some incredible visuals – as is usually the case in a Proyas film – it also reveals the unfortunately abundant scenes in which Nicolaj Coster-Waldau and Gerard Butler are clearly walking around a set with major green-screen behind them. Brenton Thwaites’ acting in similarly fabricated surroundings isn’t helping things, either.

Essentially, this looks like one shiny, soft, plastic movie, oversaturated and overly computer generated, and the only hope it has is a great story. Does this trailer give you hope?

Take a look for yourself and chime in below!

According to FirstShowing, “In this spectacular action-adventure inspired by the classic mythology of Egypt, the survival of mankind hangs in the balance as an unexpected mortal hero Bek (Brenton Thwaites) undertakes a thrilling journey to save the world and rescue his true love. In order to succeed, he must enlist the help of the powerful god Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) in an unlikely alliance against Set (Gerard Butler), the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt’s throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict. As their breathtaking battle against Set and his henchmen takes them into the afterlife and across the heavens, both god and mortal must pass tests of courage and sacrifice if they hope to prevail in the epic final confrontation. Gods of Egypt is directed by Alex Proyas (of The Crow, Dark City, I Robot, Knowing) from a screenplay by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless. Gods of Egypt arrives on February 26th.”

I grew up in Hamburg to a German father and Ecuadorian mother. Obsessive student of film, Hip-Hop, and stand-up comedy. I love the dark dreambox that is the cinema auditorium. I love mountains and the ocean, but am equally exhilarated by the jungle of the city. I hope to one day create something that hits someone in the brain with thunderous effect.
