Golden Globe Awards 2018 Winners

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, The Handmaid’s Tale, Big Little Lies, and the other winners of the 2018 Golden Globe Awards have been announced. The 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards “are presented annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) to recognize outstanding achievements in the entertainment industry, both domestic and foreign, and to focus wide public attention upon the best in motion pictures and television.”

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri almost completely dominated the film category of the 2018 Golden Globe Awards. When I first saw the trailer for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, I thought the film might be something special but I had no idea how special. It seems I was right and that many others have discovered the film as well.

Lady Bird and The Shape of Water both won two awards. Both films were heavily favored to do well before the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony aired. Guillermo del Toro, who won one of the two awards for The Shape of Water, may finally when the Oscar for directing that he should have won for Pan’s Labyrinth.

On the TV side, The Handmaid’s Tale continues to put Hulu on the map for quality original television programming. The Handmaid’s Tale won for best TV series and best lead actress in a TV series. In the limit television series (TV mini-series) category, Big Little Lies took home all of the awards.
