GOTHAM CITY SIRENS: David Ayer to Direct SUICIDE SQUAD Spin-off

David Ayer Set to Direct Spin-off Film Gotham City Sirens

David Ayer and Margot Robbie will be teaming up again after Suicide Squad with their spin-off film Gotham City Sirens. Despite what people think, Suicide Squad managed to make a mark in the box office and David Ayer isn’t looking to stop making films for the DC Universe.

The Hollywood Reporter broke word that David Ayer has already signed on for his next project for DC, which is being titled Gotham City Sirens. We can expect Margot Robbie to return as Harley Quinn as she joins other female villains from the DC line-up. It remains to be seen on who the other villains will be, but we can probably name some big ones like Catwoman and Poison Ivy joining the crew. This time, however, Ayer won’t be writing the screenplay like he did for Suicide Squad. Screenwriting duties will be given a female touch as Geneva Robertson-Dworset has been hired to develop the film. DC bosses Geoff Johns and Jon Berg will be producers on the film.

For those unfamiliar with them, the Gotham City Sirens consisted of Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy. The comic books ran for 26 issues from June 2009 to August 2011. We don’t have a release date yet, but the spin-off is already being on the fast-track to getting made so expect to hear more about the film’s development soon. Are you excited to see all our female DC villains taking center stage for Gotham City Sirens?
