GOTHAM: Jada Pinkett Smith will not return in Season 2

Jada Pinkett Smith Gotham Red Hood 01 350x164

Gotham Season 2 will not feature Jada Pinkett Smith. Fox‘s Gotham has been greenlit for a second season, but Jada Pinkett Smith will not return. Deadline reports that in an interview on ABC’s Live With Kelly and Michael, Smith explained that she joined the series in a year-long contract, which has now experied.

Throughout Season 1, Smith played as Fish Mooney, the devious nightclub owner who plotted against her fellow mobsters Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) and Carmine Falcone (John Doman), and occasionally worked as an informant for the cops. Where we last left Fish, she had narrowly escaped the vengeance of her old boss and been captured by pirates, who sent her to the nightmarish organ farm of Dr. Francis Dulmacher (Colm Feore), but her ends-justify-the-means attitude brought her up in his organization. As the article claims “occasional appearances as Fish Mooney are not completely out of the question”, it may be assumed she will not end up dying.

Even heading out the door, Smith promised a satisfying season finale, so keep an eye out for it!
