Greg Berlanti to Direct a BOOSTER GOLD/BLUE BEETLE Movie

Warner Bros. Developing Booster Gold/Blue Beetle Movie with Greg Berlanti Directing. Warner Bros. may have their eye on a certain superhero duo for a DC film. Apparently, they are looking to make a movie duo Booster Gold and Blue Beetle with Greg Berlanti at the helm.

The Tracking Board reports that heroic duo Booster Gold and Blue Beetle will be starring in their own movie together. It’s no surprise that Warner Bros. has been trying a way to adapt these characters for years now. Blue Beetle nearly got it’s own series when the test shot was unveiled for Cartoon Network while Syfy was working on a small screen adaptation of Booster Gold. It looks like the studio decided that these guys are more suited for the big screen, and DC TV giant Greg Berlanti will direct and executive produce the film project. We would like to point out that Berlanti also is involved with some upcoming DC films like the upcoming Green Lantern reboot and The Flash in regards to story.

The film has been pitched as a “superhero buddy cop movie” with comedic elements, which is something different from the darker tone of the DC Extended Universe. It’s pretty obvious that Warner Bros. is trying to mimic the success of Marvel’s recent films like Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy. The site included that the movie will be a part of the DCEU adding that, “The dynamic duo are also members of the Justice League and are being planted now to appear in a future JL movie down the road.”

For some of you who don’t know who they are, Booster Gold is a former athlete from the future who uses his technology to become a time traveling hero with the help of his AI companion, similar to Tony Stark’s Iron Man. Blue Beetle has been the identities of different men starting from Dan Garret, a scientist, all the way to Jaime Reyes, the current Blue Beetle. The two have been known for teaming up together in the comics on various adventures, with the stories being more comedic in nature.
