Happy Death Day Trailer
Christopher Landon‘s Happy Death Day (2017) movie trailer stars Jessica Rothe, Israel Broussard, Ruby Modine, Rachel Matthews, and Charles Aitken. Happy Death Day‘s plots synopsis: “A college student Tree (Jessica Rothe, La La Land) relives the day of her murder with both its unexceptional details and terrifying end until she discovers her killer’s identity.”
Happy Death Day, formerly titled Half to Death, looks like a fun time at the movies. It is making fun of numerous films: Scream, Halloween, etc. while also wanting to be taken seriously. I don’t know if it pulls off its second agenda item since I have not seen the film yet but the film will be entertaining.
Lead character Tree Gelbman looks as though she traverses the “walk of shame” before her birthday party and murder. Hopefully the rest of the narrative is just as amusing.
Happy Death Day looks as though it follow some of the familiar avenues of Groundhog Day where the protagonist comes to embrace the time loop that they are stuck in. Tree Gelbman begins to do things that she would never have dreamed to have done under normal circumstances i.e. walking the campus naked.
A smarter person would have used the time loop to study, gain two or three degrees worth of knowledge, gain advanced skills like martial arts, etc. Tree Gelbman doesn’t look as though she attempts any of that. Killer Cage did in All You Need is Kill.
Happy Death Day also stars Jason Bayle, Phi Vu, Donna Duplantier, GiGi Erneta, Tenea Intriago, Rob Mello, Cariella Smith, Billy Slaughter, Blaine Kern III, and Victoria Van Fleet.
