Fear The Walking Dead: Season 1, Episode 1: Pilot‘s plot synopsis (spoilers): “In pre-apocalyptic Los Angeles, addict Nick Clark wakes up in a heroin den in an abandoned church, hears a scream, then encounters his junkie friend Gloria eating someone. While fleeing the horrifying scene, Nick is hit by a car and then hospitalized for contusions. Nick’s doctor tells his mother, Madison, and her boyfriend, Travis Manawa, that Nick’s claims about the incident are drug-induced hallucinations. The police then question Nick, but he refuses to answer. While Travis tries to mend things with his rebellious teen son, Christopher, with the aid of his ex-wife, Liza, he comes to believe Nick after visiting the church. Nick’s sister, Alicia, becomes even more worried about his chemical dependency. The high school where Madison and Travis teach is closed for the day due to the news video showing a violent man being little scathed by police bullets, the traffic-jammed scene of which the couple had been stuck near the night before. Nick escapes from the hospital and meets up with his drug dealer, Calvin, hoping to learn whether or not the drugs he sold him were bad and thus caused hallucinations in the church. Calvin drives Nick to the riverfront, where he attempts to fatally shoot him in order to prevent him from exposing Calvin as a drug dealer. In the ensuing struggle, Calvin is shot in the chest and dies. As Madison and Travis arrive, the three are attacked by the zombified Calvin, whom Nick proceeds to ram repeatedly with Travis’ truck. The three watch in disbelief as the profoundly mutilated Calvin is still able to turn his head towards them.”
