Fear The Walking Dead: Season 1, Episode 4: Not Fade Away‘s plot synopsis (spoilers): “Nine days after the army quarantines the neighborhood and turns it into a safe zone (which the army refers to as a “DZ”), everybody tries to continue life as normal. However, the residents begin to chafe under the strict military curfew they are put under, and Madison is stressed by her home’s being overcrowded and by sheltering much of the work. Chris has reason to believe there may be survivor outside the fence and shares his suspicions with Travis and Madison. Travis helps talk his neighbor into consenting to the military health screenings. Liza provides medical assistance to the neighbors. Nick, desperate to feed his drug addiction, sneaks into a neighbor’s home and steals his morphine supplies. Ofelia starts a relationship with one of the soldiers in an attempt to obtain more medicine for her mother. Later, Travis discovers that Doug had been detained by the military for breaking curfew, while Madison confirms there is a survivor outside the safe zone, trying to signal for help. With the army refusing to help, Madison sneaks outside the perimeter and finds evidence of the army killing everybody outside the safe zone, even the uninfected. Meanwhile, Daniel warns Madison of a previous experience in El Salvador where people were taken away under the guise that they will receive medical treatment, but are actually killed. The army arrives to evacuate Griselda to a military hospital; they also seize Nick, despite his family’s protests. Liza’s asked to accompany and assist the medical team, and despite not wanting to leave her son, she goes with them.”
