Guillermo Del Toro Will Meet With Ron Perlman And Mike Mignola To Discuss Hellboy 3

Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro announces that he will keep a promise to meet with Ron Perlman and Mike Mignola to talk about Hellboy 3.

The meeting was occasioned by overwhelming fan reaction to an informal poll posted by del Toro on Twitter. Posted on Wednesday, the director said that if 100,000 of his followers responded to the poll he would then arrange a meeting with Perlman and Mignola to revisit the possibility of a follow-up to Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. In a development that presumably came as a surprise even to del Toro, the poll received well over 100,000 just a day after he posted it.

In case one thinks it’s too good to be true, del Toro made it clear that he was not joking by sharing that he would get in touch with the series star as well as the creator of the original source material. Although he cautioned that this is a far cry from giving a film the green light, the director promised that he would raise the subject with them. reported this story and noted that Perlman himself has expressed interest in returning to the franchise even as he doubted that it would continue:

Fans, and Perlman himself, have been begging for another sequel since the premiere of “Hellboy II: The Golden Army.” Although Perlman was long optimistic about the chances for a third “Hellboy” film, he finally conceded last year that it will “probably never happen.”
