Well Go USA has announced its plans to release Erik Matti‘s On the Job (2013) February 11, 2014. The crime thriller stars Piolo PascualGerald AndersonJoel TorreJoey MarquezMichael de MesaLeo MartinezAngel Aquino, and Vivian Velez. Marquez and Pascual play a police sergeant and a federal agent investigating the assassination of a big time drug dealer. They are hot on the trail when they suddenly encounter roadblocks at every turn. They slowly come to the realization the murder was a conspiracy of the highest order involving inmates hired as assassins and hiding amongst the prison population. The conspiracy stretches right up to the highest levels of government and those in power will stop at nothing to keep their secret. Announced special features include deleted scenes and a “making of” featurette.

The surprise sci-fi hit Ender’s Game (2013) will receive widespread distribution by Summit Entertainment, a subsidiary of Lionsgate Films on February 11, 2014. Director Gavin Hood‘s futuristic film stars Asa Butterfield as Ender, the most talented of a group of youth recruited by Colonel Hyram Graff (Harrison Ford) and the military for training at Battle School to defend Earth against attack by a hostile alien race, the Formics. Ender quickly distinguishes himself in the military simulations and rises to the top of his class to win a spot in Command School for training with military legend Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley) to lead the soldiers into a battle to save the world. Special features will include deleted and extended scenes with audio commentary by the director, feature-length audio commentary with Producers Gigi Pritzker and Bob Orci, and Ender’s World: the Making of Ender’s Game (an 8-part featurette), the latter being a Blu-ray exclusive.

There is nothing like a spoiler right in the title and John Dies at the End (2012) delivers in that respect. Don Coscarelli‘s unconventional romp through the sci-fi universe introduces a new drug on the scene. Soy sauce promises a high like no other, one that transports the user through an unparalleled out-of-body experience. Drop outs John and David give it a try and for the first time their eyes are opened to a shadow world of demons hiding in plain sight amongst Earth’s humans. The two unlikely heroes set out on a comic battle to save Earth from the demon invasion. Eureka Entertainment has scheduled the release for February 17, 2014, and promised a pleathora of special features including deleted scenes, a feature length commentary with cast and crew, casting sessions, the Fangoria interview with Paul GiamattiGetting Sauced: the Making of John Dies at the EndCreature Corps: the Effects of Soy Sauce, and the trailer.

Though it probably would have cleaned up over the recent Thanksgiving weekend, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced plans to release its animated feature Free Birds (2013) February 4, 2014. Director Jimmy Hayward tapped the voice talents of Woody HarrelsonOwen WilsonDan FoglerColm MeaneyGeorge Takei, and Keith David for this lighthearted story of turkeys who travel back in time to try to keep turkey off the Thanksgiving menu. Special features will include the theatrical trailer, Shake a TailfeatherBirds Flipping HistoryWinging it: Animators in ActionAnimating Free Bird: the Main Course, and Talking Turkey with Composer Dominic Lewis.

Icelandic director Sturla Gunnarsson brings a terrifying tale of evil lurking beneath the ice with Ice Soldiers (2013). Genetically enhanced Soviet soldiers have been trapped under the ice in the Arctic circle since the cold war. Recently rediscovered and reactivated, they are superhuman terminators on a secret mission of destruction and death. A scientist has been searching for them nearly his entire life; he will attempt to stop them before they complete their deadly assignment. Ice Soldiers stars Dominic PurcellAdam BeachMichael Ironside, and Gabriel Hogan
