Home Entertainment News: July 9, 2013: SKYFALL, DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY

Official Charts Company has certified Sam Mendes‘ Skyfall the biggest-selling home video title ever in the U.K. At 2.8 million units sold, the James Bond juggernaut has eclipsed other blockbusters as The Hobbit, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 2, and Les Miserables which have each sold around 1 million units.

We have details for the Warner Bros. Six-disc release The Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collector’s Edition which is due out September 24, 2013.

The set also includes a 42-page full-color hardcover booklet of behind-the-scenes footage and production stills, Mondo collectible art cards featuring Joker, Bane, Scarecrow, Harvey Dent, and Ra’s al Ghul, and Batpod, Batmobile, and Tumbler premium collectible Hot Wheels. The studio has not yet released pricing info.

Independent British film distribution company Third Window Films will bring a number of titles to home video this summer. Sion Sono‘s Japanese film The Land of Hope (Kibo no Kuni) (2012) will be released August 12, 2013. It has also acquired the distribution rights to the Korean films The Boomerang Family by Song Hae-Sung and How to Use Guys with Secret Tips by Lee Wong-Suk. Song’s work is a dark comedy while Lee’s film is a romantic comedy.

Curzon Film World will release director Drake DoremusBreathe In (2013) on October 7, 2013. The drama stars Guy Pearce, Felicity Jones, Amy Ryan, and Kyle MacLachlan and screened at both the Sundance Film Festival and the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Lionsgate Films U.K. will release Darren Aronofsky‘s thriller Pi (1998) on Blu-ray in the United Kingdom on August 12, 2013.

Director François Ozon‘s Dans la Maison a.k.a. In the House will be released on home video in the United Kingdom July 21, 2013. The drama involves a literature professor’s mentoring of a promising student whose musings about a friend’s family have caught his eye. Both professor and pupil devolve into subtle manipulation of both text and reality with interesting results. The Blu-ray release will include a making-of documentary, deleted scenes, bloopers, poster concepts, and the premiere at the Grand Rex.
