IMMORTALS (2011) Movie Trailer: Tarsem Singh, Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke

Henry Cavill, Immortals

The Immortals Movie Trailer has premiered. Tarsem Singh‘s Immortals (2011) stars Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke, Kellan Lutz, Freida Pinto, and John Hurt. Immortals’ plot synopsis: “Years after the Titanomachy, the Titan Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) declares war on humanity. He searches for the Epirus Bow, a legendary weapon created by the war god Ares, which will allow him to free the rest of the Titans from Tartarus and take revenge on the Olympians who brought about their downfall. In accordance with ancient laws, the gods are unable to take a side in the war between Hyperion and humanity. It is left to a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill), chosen by Zeus (Luke Evans) and accompanied by the priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto) and a slave (Stephen Dorff), to protect his homeland and save the gods.”

Not bad. With the advent of sword and sandal spectacles like 300, Spartacus: Blood and Sand, and Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, Immortals seems to fit right into the middle of that niche, not overtly sexual or gratuitously violent. This is a general audiences movie trailer however so the blood might flow like in Troy: Director’s Cut and Conan the Barbarian. We will have to wait and see. This looks much better than the garbage Clash of the Titans remake though.
