It 2 Receives 2019 Release Date
New Line Cinema has quickly given a release date to the sequel to It. That was no surprise since It has become the highest-grossing R-rated film in movie history. It 2 will be released on September 6, 2019. The sequel will again be directed by Andrés Muschietti, who directed the first It film. My guess is that outside of a sequel option or clause in his original contract, Muschietti got a nice pay bump for taking the director’s chair again.
One of the three writers from It, Gary Dauberman, is returning to write the sequel. I really hope Cary Fukunaga returns as well. His work on the first season of True Detective was incredible. I am not sure how much of Fukunaga is on-screen in It but his influence (even if he only polished the script) should not be sidelined. Hopefully his writing deal on It 2 is forthcoming.
It‘s plot synopsis: based on the novel by Stephen King, “When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids are faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.”
It starred Jaeden Lieberher, Sophia Lillis, Steven Williams, Owen Teague, Wyatt Oleff, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Jack Dylan Grazer, Stephen Bogaert, Ari Cohen, Chosen Jacobs, Bill Skarsgård, Finn Wolfhard, Javier Botet, Nicholas Hamilton, and Megan Charpentier.
The sequel will feature the child actors from the first film but I can’t help but wonder if their adult incarnations will be in the film as well.
