JACK RYAN: John Krasinski-Led Series Gets Picked up for Series [Amazon]

John Krasinski 13 Hours

Amazon Picks Up Jack Ryan TV Series Starring John Krasinski. Jack Ryan is finally coming to the small screen after nearly a year as Amazon has recently given the greenlight for the television adaptation, which will star John Krasinski in the title role of a CIA analyst.

It’s been almost a year since Paramount TV and Michael Bay’s production company Platinum Dunes announced their intention of developing a TV series adaptation of Tom Clancy’s famous character Jack Ryan. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streaming service announced that they have officially given a 10-episode series order for the first season. The Office star John Krasinski will headline the series as the main character in a story that follows Ryan “as he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.”

Rather than adapting all of the Jack Ryan books, the TV series will only use the novels as source material and create an original story that gives Ryan a backstory to further explore his time as a CIA analyst and operative. Lost alums Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland will serve as developers and EPs on the series and possibly become showrunners. Krasinski will be the fifth actor to portray the character following Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, and Chris Pine who all played Jack Ryan on the big screen.
