JAMES BOND 23: Titled ‘Skyfall’, Plot, Character Details

Skyfall

Bond 23 will be officially called Skyfall. Filming on Skyfall has recently gotten underway. The Skyfall title for the Sam Mendes directed film refers to some “emotional context which will be revealed in the film”, says Skyfall producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

Regarding Skyfall‘s plotline:

Skyfall will tell a standalone story not based on any of Ian Fleming‘s novels and not related to the Quantum plot thread from the two previous installments [Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace]. The official plot synopsis, as posted by the @007 Twitter account, reads as follows: “Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Javier Bardem was again confirmed as the villan in Skyfall, written about here: James Bond 23: Javier Bardem is Villain in Sam Mendes’ Film. Regarding the other characters in Skyfall:

Naomie Harris will play a field agent named Eve — not Moneypennyas previous reports suggested, unless there’s some sort of plot twist we don’t know about yet — while Bérénice Marlohe will play a “glamorous, enigmatic character called Severin.” Dame Judi Dench and — obviously —Daniel Craig are set to reprise their parts from the previous films; Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes[, Helen McCrory], and Albert Finney will also appear in Skyfall, but the exact nature of their roles have not been revealed.

How Sam Mendes intends to shoot Skyfall and where the film will be shot:

Mendes promised plenty of big action setpieces, in contrast to rumors that he’d be doing a more serious, less action-oriented take on the franchise. “The action needs to be balanced with the drama,” he said. “There will be plenty of surprises.” In typical Bond style, Skyfall will shoot all over the world, on location in London, Scotland, Shanghai, and Istanbul.

Skyfall will be released in US theaters on November 9, 2012 and UK on October 26, 2012.
